The current atoms are the eleven atoms that are selectable in the selection palette window. These may be changed on a 512K or larger Mac by option-clicking on the desired atom in the first column. A window will appear with the periodic table in which you can select another atom in place of the one you clicked on.
The current atoms may differ from molecule to molecule.
The current atoms can also be changed using a resource editor to modify the resource of type "CURR" of a particular file.
